The piece is called old Cole. It was inspired by a something I read about, about the people who use to light the oil lamps in the street in the 18th century. I thought it would be a fun time to remake.
It took me about 2 weeks to complete the piece, doing all the modeling in maya, using Ray trace shadows and rendering in Mental Ray. Finally taking it into Photoshop for all the comping work. The Flame was done using Maya Dynamics.
